ST. MALACHY'S PRIMARY SCHOOL 11 MARTIN'S LANE, CARNEGAT, NEWRY
St. Malachy's Primary School is a large co-educational Catholic Maintained school situated in a semi rural setting overlooking the city of Newry. St. Malachy's Nursery school is sited in the grounds close to the Primary School. The school caters for almost 400 children boys and girls, aged 4 - 11 from the Parish of Middle Killeavy and surrounding areas. The school was opened in January 1983 and is inviting and welcoming. Art is an important part of our tradition and displays throughout the school reflect this. The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum and we work hard as a team to promote excellence in academics, music, sport and other areas. A wide range of extra curricular activities is available including Gaelic, Camogie, French lessons, Quiz and Computers. We are a very open school and feel part of the community and encourage parents to avail of courses provided in the school i.e. I.T. Skills, Literacy and Numeracy. We have a dedicated staff of 18 teachers, 20 assistants and 10 ancillary staff. We as a team, provide a safe, secure environment where everyone is valued. Parish links, like post primary links, are not only encouraged but developed each year. Our motto "To enhance each talent and meet each need" is reinforced by everything we do within the school. We know our children leave St. Malachy's Primary School enriched, confident and prepared for the challenges of their next school and in fact of their adult life. Partnership is an essential part of what we do and we encourage all involved with the school to assist us in improving on provision. St. Malachy's children are proud to wear the uniform and are ambassadors of ethos. Further information is available freely from the school (on aspects of the curriculum, policies, etc.) or from our website. Website: www.stmalachyscarnagat.com
