Marriage

For many, their Wedding Day is forever remembered as one of the most significant, joyous and sacred occasions in their lives. Most people also find it a pleasure to be a guest at a well planned wedding to witness a couple's pledge before God to live the rest of their lives as one.

PROCEDURES
1. Booking
Contact one of the priests to arrange a date for your Wedding. He can give you details about the Pre-Marriage course, paper work needed to complete the Church's Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form (Wedding Papers) and advise on the wedding ceremony.
If you want to celebrate your marriage in a church other than St. Mary of the Assumption, and you need one of the Middle Killeavy Priests to officiate please contact him before you book anything else. You can do this by contacting the priest directly or the Parochial House.

2. Civil Requirements
Since January 1st 2004, the law in Northern Ireland requires each couple to apply to be permitted to marry. The couple must fill out the 'Notice of Marriage' form which can be obtained from the local Registrar's Office. This can be done up to one year before the date of the wedding, but must be done at least two weeks beforehand. You can check out the Northern Ireland Registrar's website for full details on
www.groni.gov.uk

3. There is no fixed charge for a Church wedding. However it is customary to make contributions to the priest, sacristan, altar servers, organist and singer(s).
