Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The Sacred Heart Conference of St. Vincent de Paul covers the parishes of Middle Killeavy and Upper Killeavy.  The Conference is based at our thrift shop, which is in Bridge Street, Newry, telephone No. (028) 3026 8185.

The conference is made up of parishioners and has been working for over 50 years helping those less well off in our community.  We offer help in times of crisis which may be in the form of financial help or food or clothing or furniture from our thrift shop.

The conference visits Daisy Hill Hospital each Sunday bringing sweets and newspapers to those who do not have any visitors.  We also visit St. Luke's Hospital in Armagh monthly.  The conference raises funds through the sale of clothes and furniture at their thrift shop and from church door collections at all masses in both parishes.

Those who are facing a crisis and think that St. Vincent de Paul might be able to help can contact the Conference by letter, which can be left in the thrift shop at 40A Bridge St., Newry.  The Conference meets on Monday nights where requests for help are dealt with. Two members from the conference would then visit those requesting help.  All applications for help are treated in the strictest confidence.
