 The Senior Choir in the Church of St Mary of the Assumption, was formed in August 1999 in response to a request for singers to celebrate the re-dedication of the church.
Various parishioners were swift in their response and, with Susan Hughes as choir mistress and organist; we have now, six years later, become an integral part of making church liturgies more meaningful for all parishioners.
Singing has become central to our form of worship. Commitment and enthusiasm among choir members is still as high in 2005 as it was in 1999.
Not only do we enjoy singing together but there is also a big social aspect to this choir. Parties and outings are part of our Christmas and summer itinerary.
The Senior Choir alternates between 10.30 am Mass on Sunday mornings and the 7.30 pm Mass on Saturday night. Choir Practice is at 7.30 pm every Tuesday night.
Anyone wishing to join us would be welcomed with open arms. The only qualification needed is that you enjoy singing and good "craic" Contact Parish Team with name and phone number. |
