Chaplaincy

Middle Killeavy Parish has been responsible for Chaplaincy in the Hospital since September 1996.  The Parish team, though part-time Chaplains, provide Pastoral care for patients, staff and families of the loved ones who are sick.  Each member of the team makes themselves available on a rota basis to visit the hospital.  In general, the Sisters visit in the afternoons and the priests in the evenings.  The priest on duty carries the bleep and may be called at any time, day or night, to administer the Sacrament of the Sick, pray with patients and families or lead the prayers for the dead.Sr. Elsie is Chaplain to Maternity and Paediatrics.
Sr. Brenda trains the Lay Eucharistic Ministers and organizes the rota for visits on a Saturday afternoon.  Sr. Maura organizes and prepares, with our Sacristan, Mrs. Brigid Rooney, the Church for Mass on Sunday mornings at 11.am.
Once a month, Mass is offered on Level 4 and Level 6 for the long-term patients in the hospital.
Holy Communion is brought to the patients who wish to receive the Eucharist from the Sisters during the week and from dedicated Lay Eucharistic Ministers on Saturday afternnon from 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm
